Spring Wildflowers: Part 2

I went back out and saw a few new flowers in the forest.  Jack-in-the-Pulpits are up as well as Cut-leaved Toothwort.  In addition Green Frogs have begun calling!  Here are some more spring wildflower photos. To see all of the photos check my Flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/naturatours.

Spring Wildflowers

When spring returns I am typically out birding or in search of amphibians and reptiles.   (As an side note so far I have heard 6 different species of frogs calling this spring.  The most recent addition to the chorus here in the Greater Toronto Area are the Gray Treefrogs and American Toads.)  While I have been out admiring the birds and the herps, I have also really enjoyed the wildflowers in the forest adding pops of colour to the monotonously brown forest floor.   Below are some of some of my finds thus far.  To see all of the photos check my Flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/naturatours

Tracks in the Snow

Winter is almost finished for another year and as spring falls upon us soon the evidence of animals traveling in the snow will be melt away.   Over the past few weeks I have captured a few photos on my iphone of tracks I have found while birding.  I have identified them to my best capabilities...

Flashback Friday

It's been a couple of weeks since the last Flashback Friday.  Things have been busy.  Especially with editing photos.  I have just finished editing over 1,200 photos from Southern Peru!  This week's Flashback Friday photo is from Peru.  Below is a Brown Capuchin Monkey (Cebus apella).  A troupe of these monkeys visited the restaurant of the lodge we were at during breakfast.

Flashback Friday

This week's Flashback Friday photo was taken a few years back right as Spring was beginning.  It's a reminder that on a day with this much snow Spring is still only around the corner.

Think warm thoughts!

Flashback Friday

Dreaming of Hawaii in this week's Flashback Friday.  This photo was taken on "The Big Island" (Hawaii), near one of the highest peaks Mauna Kea.  Great views and great birds!
